The tool box you need before your trucks hit the road

25 July 2013

Registrations are now open for the trucking industry’s premier 2013 technical event – the PACCAR and Dealer Technical and Maintenance Conference.

TMC 2013 will run from Monday 28 to Wednesday 30 October and will be held at the Automotive Centre of Excellence at the Kangan Institute in Melbourne. The conference is presented each year by the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) and the Australian Road Transport Suppliers’ Association.

The Chief Executive of the ATA, Stuart St Clair, said TMC 2013 would provide trucking businesses, truck maintenance businesses and industry suppliers with a tool box of ideas to improve the way they work.

“The conference will include 15 technical forums on key issues like truck electrical fault finding, parts purchasing and tyre selection and maintenance,” Mr St Clair said.

“The technical forums will help delegates build a stronger safety culture in their businesses, get better mileage for their fuel dollars and improve their bottom lines.

“The conference will also include nine hands-on product training workshops, delivered by supplier experts. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance for each workshop they attend, signed by the manufacturer and TMC,” he said.

The product training workshops will include:

•    advice from Cummins on aftermarket fuelling devices;
•    servicing BPW drum brake trailer axles;
•    heavy duty transmission service and diagnostic training with Eaton Service Ranger 4; and
•    installing, inspecting and servicing SAF-HOLLAND Modul suspensions with 12t drum brake axles and the G36 fifth wheel range.

Mr St Clair urged businesses to send the younger members of their maintenance teams to the event, in addition to their workshop and fleet managers.

TMC 2013 is a great opportunity for businesses to invest in the younger members of their teams, because they can build their networks and learn from more experienced professionals. We have set our registration fees to provide substantial discounts to businesses that register groups of three or more people,” he said.

TMC 2013 will feature the presentation of the 2013 Craig Roseneder Award for technical and maintenance excellence in the workshop. The winner will be announced at the Castrol Awards Dinner on Monday, 28 October.
