Tasmanian Transport Association rejoins ATA

20 November 2015

The Tasmanian Transport Association (TTA) has this week rejoined the Australian Trucking Association, after leaving in 2008.

TTA (http://tta.org.au/) is the peak association for the Tasmanian transport industry, providing representation and member services to its members across all modes of transport. It reflects the special issues confronted by local transport operators due to Tasmania’s isolation, geography and decentralisation.

The Executive Director of TTA, Robin Phillips, said he was really pleased to be part of the ATA’s national agenda going forward.

“It’s essential for us to have a seat at the big table, and be able to negotiate and be represented at the top level,” Mr Phillips said.

“A big issue for our members at the moment is dealing with the over-size, over-mass permit system, particularly with the issues around the changeover to the NHVR. We are looking forward to working with the ATA to resolve this.”

ATA Chair Noelene Watson welcomed the Tasmanian Transport Association to the ATA family.

“It’s wonderful to be a truly national association again. With the addition of the Tasmanian Transport Association, our members now cover every state and territory, as well as the long distance, livestock and furniture removal sectors of the industry,” Mrs Watson said.

“We’re looking forward to working with TTA to represent its members on a national level, and I congratulate their board on making the decision to rejoin the ATA.

“I know that the TTA’s members are very active and committed operators, and I encourage them to use this to engage with the ATA in a similar fashion.”
