Give young staff the chance to grow - Cummins workshop scholarships open

16 July 2015

Thanks to the generosity of Cummins South Pacific, the Australian Trucking Association is now looking for young service technicians from Australian workshops to receive one of three scholarships to attend the 2015 PACCAR & Dealer TMC in Melbourne from Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 October 2015.

TMC 2015 features high level technical sessions, compliance forums and product training workshop sessions, with multiple program streams to help attendees get the training and advice most relevant to their business.

The scholarships are open to any Australian business that employs truck service technicians. Nominees for the scholarship must be less than 25 years old as at 26 October 2015.

To enter, operators should describe in 25 words or fewer how their young service technician would benefit from attending TMC 2015. Entries should be submitted to ataevents@truck.net.au, along with the nominator’s full contact details. Only one entry will be accepted per business.

Cummins South Pacific Manager- Automotive Sales and Customer Support, Scott Alexander, said it was critical to support the professional growth of young people entering the industry’s workshops.

“Today’s young apprentices and technicians are the future of our industry,” Mr Alexander said.

“Through the Cummins South Pacific scholarship, three young technicians will get the chance to learn from some of Australia’s most experienced and knowledgeable maintenance people in transport. This wealth of talent and experience is an opportunity that can’t be matched.

“We are proud to continue this partnership with TMC for our fourth year, and I look forward to meeting this year’s winners during the event.”

Each scholarship includes one full delegate registration to TMC 2015, including attendance at the PACCAR Parts TMC Fun Night and the Castrol Vecton Awards Dinner. The scholarship also includes two nights standard hotel accommodation in Melbourne.

The scholarship winners will be contacted by phone and published in the ATA’s Friday Facts newsletter. All entries must be received by 5pm Monday 10 August. Entries will be judged by the experts at Cummins. The full terms and conditions are available at www.truck.net.au/tmc.
