ATA welcomes new members to the industry technical council

31 July 2018

The Australian Trucking Association is proud to welcome four new members to its Industry Technical Council (ITC).

The ITC is a working committee that was established to enhance the trucking industry’s safety, professionalism and viability by providing technical input and best practice advice to the ATA

“The ITC brings operators, suppliers, engineers and industry specialists together in a long-term discussion forum,” ATA CEO Ben Maguire today.

“The council benefits both the industry and stakeholders as it raises technology and maintenance standards, improving the operational safety of the heavy vehicle industry,” he said.

The new ITC members are:

  • Samantha Jackson, Compliance Officer, BORAL
  • Graham Lock, Fleet/Workshop Manager, Fuel Distributors Western Australia
  • Jason Button, Maintenance Manager, CHS Broadbent
  • Paul Smallacombe, Lubricants Technical Team Leader, Viva Energy

“I’m proud to welcome our new ITC members, who will each be able to provide a diverse set of skills and expertise to the council,” Mr Maguire said.

“Each new member also represents outstanding companies, including long-time ATA sponsor BORAL and Viva Energy who have just launched their new aviation business to more than 50 airports around Australia,” he said.

As well as providing input and advice to the ATA, the ITC is responsible for developing and recommending Technical Advisory Procedures and safety alerts, providing industry representatives to serve on government and Standards Australia technical committees, and developing the ATA Technology and Maintenance Conference program.

“The ITC is always open to new members and I would encourage anyone with an interest to consider joining,” Mr Maguire said.

“This is an opportunity to gain technical information from like-minded individuals and become part of our industry voice into the future,” he said.
