The Australian Government should implement a temporary zero emission truck purchase incentive, to ensure low and zero emission transport technologies are to become a reality.
In its submission to the Future Fuels Strategy Discussion Paper, the Australian Trucking Association seeks to place a higher priority on heavy vehicles than is currently reflected and enabling future technologies to become commercially viable options for trucking operators.
The submission’s main recommendations include:
- adressing vehicle design rules, including additional mass and width
- introducing a zero and low emission heavy vehicle purchase incentive
- ensuring early investments in charging stations and hydrogen refuelling stations
- including zero and low emission vehicles in the road user charging system
The ATA has called for a strong focus on targeted government investment and clear action.
