Celebrate International Women's Day

08 March 2013

To celebrate International Women’s Day today, the Australian Trucking Association is calling for nominations for its National Trucking Industry Woman of the Year Award.

This award is one of the annual National Trucking Industry Awards, which are presented each year by the ATA.

The National Trucking Industry Woman of the Year Award has been presented since 1997, and recognises women who have dedicated themselves to improving the safety, professionalism and viability of the road freight transport industry.

The 2010 winner of the award, Jan Pattison, the Heavy Vehicle Law and Policy Consultant for the Queensland Trucking Association, urged people in the trucking industry to nominate an exceptional woman for the award today.

“Take the time to nominate a remarkable woman for International Women’s Day,” she said.

“International Women’s Day recognises the contribution that women make to our society, inspires women and girls to reach for their goals, and celebrates our achievements.

“The ATA award does the same thing. You’ll not only be recognising the efforts of a woman in our industry; you’ll also help to inspire others.”

The winner will receive a one week international travel package for two to visit the Cummins factory in the US, courtesy of Cummins South Pacific.

The award will be presented on Friday 21 June at Trucking Australia 2013 on Hamilton Island.

Nominations for the awards close on Wednesday 1 May. To make a nomination or find out more about the awards, go to www.truck.net.au/awards.
