What is Safety Truck?
In its latest National Land Freight Strategy, the Federal Department of Infrastructure and Transport highlights the importance of community engagement in managing Australia’s growing freight task.
The ATA’s award winning mobile exhibition does exactly that. In commissioning the mobile education centre, the trucking industry created a $1.3 million community outreach program.
Safety Truck responds effectively and appropriately to the community’s concerns about the trucking industry’s impact on daily life. We are able to turn negative stereotypes into positive community messages that address key issues identified by government and progress the ATA’s strategic goals in areas of safety education and industry image.
Safety Truck travels around the country to participate in road safety education programs, trucking industry led community events and other public events. Keep an eye out for Safety Truck in your community!

Teaching young Australia to interact safely with trucks
Most local regions facilitate road safety education programs, targeting local teenagers who are about to get their driver’s licence. Safety Truck complements these programs, to ensure the teenage audience’s driver education includes understanding how to safely interact with trucks and share the road safely.
With the participation of local trucking operators, we can get students into the cab of a truck, and concurrently generate interest and exposure for local industry career opportunities.
If you are involved in a road safety education program in your area, please get in touch to discuss how we can help.
Trucking industry’s own community events
The trucking industry is involved in numerous community events including convoys for charity. Safety Truck presents a great opportunity for the trucking industry to connect with its local communities.
Safety Truck provides a significant community service to convey educational safety messages; with your support it is also a powerful public relations device with potential to improve industry image. Talk to us about your local events and road safety education programs, and let’s try to get Safety Truck to your area.
Can you afford to make a donation to keep Safety Truck on the road? The result will be better educated car drivers and fewer accidents between cars and trucks. We’ll put your name alongside the other generous and committed sponsors, contributors and patrons, and keep you involved in the touring program, ongoing development, opportunities and the many great stories that emerge from the visits around the country.
