TMC 2016 delivers diverse and comprehensive program to workshops

19 October 2016

The joint Australian Trucking Association (ATA) and Australian Road Transport Suppliers Association (ARTSA) Technical and Maintenance Conference 2016 (TMC) enters its 21st year to industry with its most comprehensive program yet.

Noelene Watson, ATA Chair says, “As trucking operators, we are all out to get the best value in our business, and we know a proactive approach to maintenance is the way to achieve that. Businesses could save thousands of dollars through better maintenance and purchasing, and TMC 2016 offers all this know-how to workshops”.

The TMC 2016 program is designed to enable delegates to maximise their time and tailor their program through a selection of high level technical sessions, compliance forums, and supplier-led product training workshops.

Sessions are categorised into four main streams - regulatory, technical and maintenance, future, and health and safety. Plenary sessions provide up to date discussions on the National Heavy Vehicle Regulatory Agenda, inspectors and operator’s panel and driving safety.

ARTSA Chair, Peter Hart says to keep TMC relevant to the Australian trucking industry, the TMC program each year is designed to provide trucking operators, workshop managers and maintenance staff detailed information about setting up and maintaining vehicles and getting up to speed with new vehicle technologies.

“These are the underpinnings of efficient maintenance practices for safety critical components of heavy vehicles. TMC 2016’s program will provide useful information, and hands on training for anyone involved in heavy vehicle maintenance”, Dr Hart said.

Held at the Automotive Centre of Excellence in Melbourne, Peter Anderson, CEO of Victorian Transport Association (VTA) says “I am delighted to once again represent the VTA and our members at TMC which is always a great forum for updating operators on technical, regulatory and safety issues we face as an industry.”

“Keeping up-to-date with state and national regulation that governs how we operate is vital for every transport company, regardless of their size. As an industry group we welcome regulation that leads to a more productive and safer workplace; however this must be balanced against mitigating onerous red tape, which costs time and money,” added Mr Anderson.

TMC 2016 also includes plenty of opportunity to network and mingle as well as honours industry excellence with the 2016 Castrol Vecton Industry Achievement Award, the Craig Roseneder Award and the Bridgestone Bandag Highway Guardian Award.

Session times are available on the TMC 2016 website and registration remains open until the end of the week.
