Prepare for the national approach - top technical advice at TMC 2015

18 September 2015

Trucking operators and workshop managers can prepare for the rollout of the 2015 National Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual at the 2015 PACCAR & Dealer TMC, with a full program stream dedicated to the manual now released.

TMC 2015 is Australia’s premier trucking technical and maintenance event. Its program includes high level technical sessions, compliance forums and product training workshops.

The Chief Executive of the Australian Trucking Association, Christopher Melham, said understanding the requirements of the 2015 National Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual could be the difference between having trucks parked up in the workshop or out on a scheduled run.

“When finalised, the National Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual will set out the requirements for heavy vehicles to pass an inspection under the Heavy Vehicle National Law,” Mr Melham said.

“With the implementation of the 2015 edition expected to start rolling out by the end of the year, understanding these requirements will be essential for every trucking operator and workshop that deals with jurisdictions covered by the national law.

“For TMC 2015, we’ve developed a technical stream focusing on the major chapters of the draft 2015 manual, as well as a work health and safety stream and a general stream focusing on some of the most frequent issues encountered by trucking workshops.

“Delegates can move between program streams to attend the sessions that best suit their interests, as well as TMC’s product training workshops, compliance forums and the TMC MarketPlace.”

The technical sessions include:

National Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual stream:

  • Training staff to do daily checks
  • Steering and suspension diagnostics
  • Keeping it together on couplings
  • Tyres and wheels – safety and compliance
  • Truck and trailer brake compatibility

Work health and safety stream:
