Cummins TMC scholarship winners announced

11 September 2015

The Australian Trucking Association has today announced the winners of the 2015 Cummins South Pacific TMC scholarships.

The 2015 scholarship recipients are:

  • Gemma Hartwig, Ostwald Bros Transport
  • Andrew Southern, Blenner’s Transport and Storage
  • Jacob Woods, Divall’s Earthmoving and Bulk Haulage

These young workshop trainees will each receive full delegate registration and accommodation to the 2015 PACCAR & Dealer TMC.

After attending TMC last year, 2014 scholarship winner Kaitlyne Watson said the program was a fantastic way to expand a young person’s knowledge of the industry.

TMC was a massive eye opener, and a really great learning experience for me. I got a lot out of the sessions, and particularly met a lot of new people – I made some great contacts,” she said.

“It’s a great opportunity to get out there in the industry, particularly at such a young age.”

The Cummins South Pacific scholarships were open to all Australian service technicians under the age of 25. Cummins first hosted the scholarships in 2012, and have already enabled nine young service technicians to attend TMC and expand their skills.

ATA CEO Christopher Melham commended every business that put forward a young staff member for the scholarship.

“It’s fantastic to see so many businesses training our next generation of workshop staff. These young people are the future of our industry,” Mr Melham said.

“If your business has an outstanding young person in your workshop, I encourage you to consider taking them to TMC with you. It’s an incredible opportunity to develop their skills and expose them to the industry.”

TMC 2015 will run from Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 October at the Automotive Centre of Excellence at the Kangan Institute in Docklands, Melbourne.

Jointly hosted by the ATA and ARTSA, the event includes high level technical sessions, compliance forums and best practice workshop sessions. Delegates can choose sessions from multiple program streams to get the training and advice most relevant to their interests.

Full delegate registration is available for $495, and includes all program sessions, the PACCAR Parts Fun Night and the Castrol Vecton Awards Dinner. For more information about TMC 2015 and to register, go to www.truck.net.au/tmc.
