ATA welcomes NHVR Board continuity

20 October 2015

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has welcomed the re-appointment of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator Board of Directors, announced today.

ATA Chief Executive Christopher Melham said the reappointment demonstrated a high degree of confidence in the NHVR Board and its efforts to secure one national heavy vehicle regulator in Australia.

“This reappointment provides much needed reassurance to industry on the progress and permanence of the NHVR,” Mr Melham said.

“I now look forward to transport ministers providing the NHVR board with a united approach to the reform agenda. The upcoming TIC meeting presents the perfect opportunity for ministers to deliver positive outcomes on Chain of Responsibility, roadworthiness and heavy vehicle charging policy.

“I would particularly like to congratulate Mr Peter Garske, the CEO of the Queensland Trucking Association, on his elevation to the position of Deputy Chair. I welcome his continued contributions to the NVHR reform program on behalf of industry.

“The ATA looks forward to an ongoing constructive and productive dialogue with the reappointed Board and its CEO, Sal Petroccitto.”
