ATA joins the National Road Safety Partnership Program

12 January 2018

The Australian Trucking Association with TruckSafe is the latest to join the National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP) as a new partner.

Safety is at the centre of the Australian Trucking Association’s strategic agenda and is TruckSafe’s core business. This aligns the ATA seamlessly with NRSPP’s objective to break knowledge barriers and facilitate information transfer across all industries about managing risk and reducing the road toll.

Jerome Carslake, Manager of NRSPP welcomed the ATA as its latest partner. “NRSPP is proud to have ATA join the partnership. Unfortunately, heavy vehicles are over represented in the number of fatalities involving third parties and in the majority of these crashes the heavy vehicle is not at fault – there is a real lack of understanding about sharing the road safely with heavy vehicles”.

“One of the primary aims of the NRSPP is to bring sectors together. With the ATA becoming a partner, we can seek to bridge critical understanding.”

ATA’s CEO Ben Maguire said, “Death and injury on our roads impacts us socially, financially and economically. It is paramount that the trucking industry contributes effectively to reducing and ultimately eliminating road trauma.”

“I’m thrilled to announce that as part of our partnership with the NRSPP, the ATA will join the 2018 Re:Act campaign. The focus of the campaign being - improving the safety of young road users when interacting with trucks. Over the next 12 months NRSPP will also feature case studies and webinars of leading ATA members. We thank NRSPP for the opportunity to join the program and contribute to improving safety for all road users.”
