218 people were killed in truck crashes in the year ended March 2011 compared to 230 in the year ended March 2010, truck crash figures from the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) show. Australia’s national truck laws are now a step closer. The Queensland Transport Minister, Annastacia Palaszczuk, introduced the first of the two bills needed to establish the laws into the Queensland Parliament on Tuesday 15 November.
