Last week, the ATA, ARTIO, NatRoad and TWU met with the ATO on behalf of members to voice concerns about slashing of meal allowances for truck drivers, and the ATO’s lack of consultation on the issue.

During the 2017-18 income year, the tax office will allow employee truck drivers to claim just $55.30 per day without detailed receipts. In 2016-17, the amount allowed was $97.40.
