Trucking technical council welcomes Visy Industries

10 October 2019

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has today welcomed Visy Industries Australia as a new member of its Industry Technical Council (ITC).

The ATA and its member associations collectively represent the 50,000 businesses and 200,000 people in the Australian trucking industry. Together, we are committed to safety, professionalism and viability.

The ITC is a working committee that was established to enhance the trucking industry’s safety, professionalism and viability by providing technical input and best practice advice to the ATA

Executive General Manager of Visy Logistics, Sean Richards, says that in addition to providing best-practice advice to the ATA, the ITC provides a platform for open and inviting communication between its members.

“Visy Industries is committed to the safe movement of freight on Australian roads, and being a member of the Industry Technical Council allows us to develop best practice solutions for our business while connecting with the most knowledgeable people in the road freight industry,” he said.

“Visy’s contribution to the ITC will provide benefits to both the industry and stakeholders by raising technology and maintenance standards and improving the operational safety of the heavy vehicle industry,” ATA Chief Engineer Bob Woodward said.

National Safe Transport Manager Jodie Broadbent will be representing Visy on the council, assisting in the development and recommendation of Technical Advisory Procedures and safety alerts, as well as the development of the ATA Technology and Maintenance Conference program.

“Prior to her role with Visy, Jodie has been a member of the ITC for many years, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience,” Mr Woodward said.

Mr Woodward said the ITC is an opportunity to share industry knowledge and gain technical information from like-minded individuals.

“The council is always open to new members. I would encourage anyone with an interest to consider joining and become a part of our industry’s voice into the future,” he said.
