Dealing with growing pains

30 September 2011

Brendan Richards, partner from Ferrier Hodgson, will address trucking operators at the trucking industry’s Technical and Maintenance Conference in Sydney on 11 October.

Brendan, who was a popular presenter at the Australian Trucking Convention earlier this year, will lead a session called ‘How to deal with growing pains’.

The session will focus on a range of methods businesses can use to shape their future structure, including succession planning and business processes.

”Trucking is the backbone of the Australian economy and the best economic barometer, so it’s a real finger on the pulse situation when talking to the transport industry,” he said. “It’s an essential industry to help keep ticking along.”

Brendan will share case studies where companies have succeeded in expanding by making the right decisions, as well as those that have failed and what they could have done to prevent it.

“I’ll be telling war stories and how people have messed it up - I want people to walk away thinking ‘I’m not going to walk into that trap because someone else has already done that for me.’”

Brendan will also talk about what sorts of challenges trucking operators are facing and the processes they can put into place to keep pace with the growth of the business.

The 2011 Technical and Maintenance Conference is sponsored by PACCAR and its dealer network, and presented by the Australian Trucking Association and the Australian Road Transport Suppliers’ Association.
