Industrial lands policy review

23 August 2021
Urban and strategic planning in Greater Sydney must prioritise trucking and freight operations.

In its submission to the Greater Sydney Commission’s review of industrial lands policy, the Australian Trucking Association and Road Freight NSW have called for the Commission to maintain the ‘retain and manage’ approach to industrial and urban services land, ensuring freight and trucking operations are protected from competing uses.

Industrial and urban services land, including freight and logistics, play a critical role in urban communities and in particular in Sydney and NSW, with the submission also calling for the Greater Sydney Commission to plan for trucking and ensure the industrial lands policy align with the National Urban Freight Planning Principles.

The review of industrial lands policy responds to a recommendation of the NSW Productivity Commission to evaluate the retain and manage approach to industrial and urban services land in Sydney.
