Drafting of national road train and B-double notices

13 October 2017

Improved productivity and consistency should be the priority for the review and redesign of the national notices for road trains and B-doubles.

This is the focus of joint submissions to the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) by the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) and the Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association (ALRTA).

The ATA and ALTRA have supported NHVR proposals to improve productivity and consistency in the national notices, and called for further technical changes.

Unnecessary notice conditions that do not have a basis in the Heavy Vehicle National Law should be removed, and it is imperative that there is a nationally harmonised approach to doing so.

Guidance defining a road train combination should also be removed, as road trains are already defined by Australian Design Rules.
