Each National Trucking Industry award has its set of specific selection criteria which is used to determine the winner. Select the award from the list below to view its selection criteria:

Outstanding Contribution to the Trucking Industry

Criteria Conditions of Entry

In submitting this nomination, the person making the nomination affirms they have complied with the following conditions of entry:

  1. The award is open to any individual or organisation who/which operates full-time in the Australian trucking industry.
  2. Nominations can be made by anyone, but self-nominations will not be accepted.
  3. One or more signed references from authoritative sources must accompany the nomination.

Selection criteria

  1. Describe the person’s character, personality and interests.

    If the nominee is an organisation, write about its beginnings, relevant corporate achievements, principals, principles, etc.
  2. Career history – list the employers, years served and positions held.
  3. Demonstrate a long-term participation in road freight transport.
  4. Demonstrate personal and/or organisational commitment to achieving positive benefits for the industry through actions.
  5. Demonstrate a proven commitment to raising both community and industry awareness and appreciation of trucking.In the case of an individual, a selfless attitude which has resulted in personal cost. (in the case of an organisation, a commitment to achieving benefits for road transport that incurred an organisational cost).
  6. A demonstrated reputation for integrity and ethical behaviour.

  • Nominations must be accompanied by a good quality, electronic photograph that can be used for publicity purposes.
  • Nominations must be received by the ATA no later than the closing date. However, late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Judges.
  • No components of the prize package are transferable.

 


National Trucking Industry Woman of the Year

Selection Criteria

Conditions of Entry

In submitting this nomination, the person making the nomination affirms they have complied with the following conditions of entry:

  1. Nominees for the award must be any female individual who operates full-time in the Australian trucking industry.
  2. Nominations can be made by anyone, but self-nominations will not be accepted.
  3. One or more signed references from authoritative sources must accompany the nomination.

Selection Criteria

  1. Describe the person’s character, personality and interests.
  2. Career history – list the employers, years served and positions held.
  3. Demonstrate a long-term involvement and/or background in the trucking industry.
  4. Demonstrate clear dedication, commitment and support to the industry through her contribution.
  5. Demonstrate a proven commitment to raising both community and industry awareness of trucking.
  6. A reputation for a high level of integrity, positive influence and professionalism in the trucking industry as a whole.

  • Nominations must be accompanied by a good quality, electronic photograph that can be used for publicity purposes.
  • Nominations must be received by the ATA no later than the closing date. However, late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Judges.
  • No components of the prize package are transferable.
  • The prize must be redeemed by 31 December of the award year, unless alternative arrangements are made with the agreement of the award sponsor.

 


National Professional Driver of the Year

Selection Criteria

Conditions of Entry

In submitting this nomination, the person making the nomination affirms they have complied with the following conditions of entry:

  1. Nominees for the award must be full-time professional employee drivers or truck owner/operators currently working as a local, medium or long distance driver.
  2. Nominations can be made by anyone, but selfnominations will not be accepted.
  3. A minimum of 7 years continuous experience as a professional driver.
  4. A good driving record with a demonstrated focus on safety, attested to by a copy of a road agency traffic record that must be submitted with the nomination.
  5. One or more signed references from authoritative sources, such as the nominee’s fleet manager or chief executive must accompany the nomination.

Selection Criteria

  1. Describe the person’s character, personality and interests.
  2. Career history – list the employers, years served and positions held.
  3. A high degree of pride in their personal presentation and their vehicle’s presentation.
  4. A high degree of skill and experience in freight handling relevant to their field.
  5. A professional attitude towards their job, their customers and the industry as a whole.
  6. A strong interest in furthering the professional image of the industry, as demonstrated by their actions and interests.
  7. Nominations must be accompanied by:
    • a copy of a road agency traffic record.
    • one or more signed references from authoritative sources, such as the nominee’s fleet manager or chief executive.

National Training Excellence Award

Selection Criteria

Conditions Of Entry

In submitting this nomination, the person making the nomination affirms they have complied with the following conditions of entry:

  • The award is open to organisations which operate full-time in the Australian trucking industry.
  • Organisations may nominate themselves, but third party ratification of the nomination’s claims is necessary. (e.g. insurer, compliance consultant/auditor)
  • The award is not open to individuals.
  • Nominations must be received by the ATA no later than the closing date. However, late entries or supplementary material may be accepted at the discretion of the judges.

Selection Criteria

  1. Organisation Profile. Provide a snapshot of the nominee. Write about its beginnings, relevant corporate achievements, principals, principles, etc. Maximum one page (A4) summary.
  2. Define the objectives of your training program or initiative specifically addressing new entrants to the transport industry? Maximum half page (A4) summary.
  3. Implementation. Maximum one page (A4) summary.
    1. Define the strategy and identify key contributors and stakeholders.
    2. How long has the strategy been operational? (Years/Months)
    3. Provide details of the formal employee training policies and procedures in place.
    4. Provide evidence of the implementation of structured training for employees/contractors.
    5. What proportion of staff/drivers/contractors have participated in training? (number and percentage)
  4. Sustainability. Maximum half page (A4) summary.
    1. What further follow-up processes are part of your strategy?
    2. What procedures are in place to ensure the strategy is sustained by your organisation?
  5. Measured outcomes. Maximum half page (A4) summary.
    1. Demonstrate a quantifiable positive effect on organisational performance (even if the program is still in its infancy).
    2. Describe the impact on organisation culture?
    3. What processes are in place to measure the performance of your strategy?
    4. Provide testimonials ratifying the program and its impact?
  6. Photograph. Nominations must be accompanied by a good quality, electronic photograph that can be used for publicity purposes.

 


Craig Roseneder Award for Technical & Maintenance Excellence

Selection Criteria

Conditions of Entry

In submitting this nomination, the person making the nomination affirms they have complied with the following conditions of entry:

  1. The award is open to any individual who works full-time in the Australian trucking industry for a trucking company, supplier or commercial workshop as a workshop manager, mechanic or provide support within the maintenance field for heavy vehicles. 
  2. The nominee must have a minimum of five years experience in the field. 
  3. Nominations will come from industry peers or employers. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Selection Criteria

  1. Describe the person’s character, personality and interests.
  2. Career history – list the employers, years served and positions held.
  3. Please provide details demonstrating the nominee’s high level of skill and aptititude demonstrated by: relevant qualifications, innovative projects, safety and environmental initiatives that have produced tangible benefts for the employer company, and TruckSafe or NHVAS involvement, or equivalent scheme
  4. A dedication to the job through: professional standards, client and supplier relationships, and coaching, mentoring and training
  5. Nominations must be accompanied with one or more signed references from authoritative sources

  • Nominations must be accompanied by a good quality, electronic photograph that can be used for publicity purposes.
  • All finalists will be invited to attend the awards event as a guest of the Australian Trucking Association. 
  • The prize package is non-transferrable. The international travel component must only be used to attend the US Technology and Maintenance Council’s Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition in the following year.
