Stuart St Clair
Chief Executive
Stuart was appointed Chief Executive of the ATA in March 2006. Stuart’s career spans the timber industry, trucking, business management and local, state and federal politics.
Following active industry participation in Sydney and Brisbane, he became the owner operator of a sawmilling business in the northern New South Wales town of Guyra, taking an active role in the community.
This led to his election to the Guyra Shire Council in 1987; he later served as Mayor. He stood for the Australian Parliament and was elected to the House of Representatives in 1998 as the Member for New England.
David Coonan
National Manager Policy
David brings a wealth of policy making and technical expertise to his role as National Manager Policy at the Australian Trucking Association.
His experience includes fleet management, road authority policy development, government advising and working with the National Transport Commission to develop transport policy.
David has engineering and management qualifications and was involved in the development policy regarding of Chain of Responsibility, road rules, Australian Design Rules, NTC policy and ATC briefings. David holds an active HC licence.
Bill McKinley
National Manager Government Relations and Communications
Bill joined the ATA in 2007 after a 17-year career as a political adviser in Queensland and national politics. Most notably, he was the communications adviser to Deputy Prime Ministers John Anderson (2002-2005) and Mark Vaile (2005-2007).
Bill is responsible for the ATA’s government relations and communications activities, including the TruckWeek industry promotion event, which is held every two years. Bill also manages the ATA’s strategic planning process. He has an arts degree with majors in government and economics, and is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia.
Steve Power
National Manager Corporate Relations
Steve has over 25 years experience in the field of event management, working with some of the biggest organisations across Australia.
Steve hold an Associate Diploma in Business and Accounting, a traineeship in business management and is the co-founder of one of Perth’s most successful events management companies, recommended by many of Perth’s leading venues. As the Corporate Relations Manager, Steve maintains relationships with the trucking industry’s suppliers.
Jenny Stensrud
Chief Financial Officer
Jenny brings a wealth of experience to the Australian Trucking Association. She has extensive experience working in a range of multi-faceted finance roles, with some of Australia’s biggest and most respected companies over many years.
Jenny has a deep understanding of the unique requirements of a not-for-profit business and works closely with all departments within the ATA to develop a responsible approach to its finances.
She holds a Graduate Certificate in Professional Accountancy and is a fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants.
Justin Fleming
National Manager TruckSafe
Justin brings a wealth of experience in the trucking industry to his role as TruckSafe Manager. He has been involved in the industry for over 25 years, driving for some of Australia’s most respected companies.
Justin has a good understanding of how trucking companies work and has, throughout his working life, been committed to improving the safety of the industry. In his role at TruckSafe, Justin uses his knowledge of the industry to assist accredited operators to continue to improve their safety record. Justin holds an active MC licence and continues to drive regularly.
Chris Head
Building and Services Manager
Chris brings a vast level of expertise to his role of Building and Services Manager. As well as formal qualifications as an electrical fitter, Chris has over 20 years experience in building maintenance and control.
Chris manages the ATA’s national headquarters, a magnificent five star rated office building. Utilising the latest technology, the $40 million building offers its high quality tenants a unique environment in the much sought after parliamentary triangle. The national headquarters houses some of the country’s leading businesses and government departments and has workspace for over 700 employees.
Chris is also the building’s chief fire warden and senior first aid officer and manages the communications and information technology needs of the ATA.
Steve Williamson
Events Manager & National Awards Secretary
Steve Williamson has a background in media and marketing. He was a broadcaster and journalist, eventually becoming marketing manager for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
He has managed projects and business units in the Australian Government, was a national director for a peak industry association and, before joining the Australian Trucking Association in 2007, was general manager for an events production company.
Steve’s role at the ATA began as the designer and project manager of The Road Ahead trucking industry touring exhibition.
Amy Zhao
Finance Officer
In her role as Finance Officer with the ATA, Amy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. She has completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the Australian National University and a Master of Management with the University of New South Wales, through the Australian Defence Force Academy.
Since completing her studies, Amy has developed extensive experience in the finance sector working as an accountant with a variety of organisations, including in the fields of property, accounting, audit and taxation in both Australia and overseas.
Kevin Walsh
TruckSafe Officer
Kevin is committed to improving the safety of the Australian trucking industry and providing the highest level of support to TruckSafe members.
Before joining TruckSafe, Kevin spent nearly ten years working with and around heavy vehicles. He has held supervisory roles with one of Australia’s major food warehousing companies, where he was responsible for safe work practices. Kevin holds a Certificate III in Warehousing.
Jodie Broadbent
Senior Policy Advisor
Jodie is the ATA’s Senior Policy Advisor, providing support to National Policy Manager.
Jodie previously worked at VicRoads for the Fatigue Authorities Panel (AFM), and assessed AFM applications on behalf of Victoria. She also provided auditing advice on NHVAS applications.
Jodie Anderson
Events Officer
In her role as the Events Officer, Jodie will be working with the events team to bring members the very best in innovation and information at the ATA’s two annual events – the Technical and Maintenance Conference and the Australian Trucking Convention.
Jodie is a graduate with a Bachelor of Sports Management and a Bachelor of Coaching Science. Before joining the ATA, she completed a six month internship in operations and events at Canberra Stadium
Sarah Harber
Policy Officer
Sarah is from the UK, where she gained a degree in economics and politics.
Before joining the ATA, she worked for NatRoad and at the 2011 National Trucking Convention.
Sarah works with the policy team providing economic policy advice and writing submissions on behalf of the ATA and its members.
