Trucking industry applauds ministerial appointments

25 March 2013

The trucking industry has today congratulated Anthony Albanese and Catherine King on their appointments to expanded roles in the Australian Government.

The Prime Minister has announced that she will recommend to the Governor-General that Minister Albanese be commissioned as Minister for Regional Development and Local Government in addition to his existing responsibilities.

Catherine King will be commissioned as the Minister for Regional Services, Local Communities and Territories, as well as the Minister for Road Safety.

The Chief Executive of the Australian Trucking Association, Stuart St Clair, said Anthony Albanese and Catherine King brought a proven record of achievement to their expanded roles.

“As Australia’s Infrastructure and Transport Minister, Anthony Albanese led a massive increase in road funding, substantial regulatory reform and much needed improvements to Australia’s infrastructure planning,” Mr St Clair said.

“And as the Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure and Transport, Catherine King led the development of Australia’s new National Road Safety Strategy - a significant achievement backed by sensible consultation with industry.

“The ATA looks forward to continuing to work with Anthony Albanese and Catherine King into the future,” he said.
