Truck technology takes centre stage

16 October 2012

Truck technology and maintenance are the focus of attention for 200 trucking industry delegates this week, with the 2012 PACCAR & Dealer TMC now underway at the Automotive Centre of Excellence in the Melbourne docklands.

At the event, mechanics, workshop managers, suppliers and manufacturers are discussing the latest developments in truck and trailer design, improvements in on-road safety and new technologies through the technical streams and industry exhibition.

For the first time in the history of TMC, delegates also have the opportunity to take part in product training workshops run by leading industry suppliers.

Among the sessions on offer for delegates are:

  • Truck electrical systems: A review of common electrical issues affecting all brands of trucks, and an overview of new technologies such as hybrid systems and EBS.
  • Workshop safety – the key safety questions: There are key safety questions everyone should ask themselves before they start a job in the workshop.
  • The big forum: A panel of industry experts from both suppliers and transport groups will share their insights as they discuss the big issues affecting the workshop.
  • What can we learn from the marine industry: A look at some of the parallels between the trucking and marine industries, including engine rebuilds, hydraulics, marine electronics and industrial engineering fault finding.
  • WH&S – How you really need to make sure you comply: A session about the national work health and safety regime, how your local system fits in and case studies of what happens if you don’t.

The 2012 TMC will continue at the Automotive Centre of Excellence until Wednesday 17 October.
