Stay safe in Queensland's wild weather

30 March 2017

The Australian Trucking Association is urging Queensland trucking businesses to stay safe, stay off the roads and follow police directions.

ATA Chair Noelene Watson said that safety in the wild weather needed to be trucking industry’s highest priority.

“In light of the torrential rain, I urge everyone to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.”

Mrs Watson said the industry’s customers would need to adjust their schedules and timelines to take the wild weather into account.

“Under the Heavy Vehicle National Law, it is an offence for an industry customer to pressure a trucking business or driver to speed or breach their fatigue obligations to make up time.”
