NTC Heavy Vehicle Fatigue Data Framework submission

16 October 2015

The NTC should de-identify information collected under its proposed Heavy Vehicle Fatigue Data Framework, the ATA has said in this submission to the NTC framework discussion paper.

The ATA supports the NTC’s proposed framework to collect and analyse real-world fatigue data in order to develop an evidence based case for future changes to fatigue regulation.

However, the data should not be able to be used for enforcement purposes. Data collected under the framework should be de-identified before being made available to government agencies, researchers and industry.

The submission particularly recommends that the framework collects information to support the development of future Electronic Work Diary policies.

It also states that a federal statistical body such as BITRE or ATSB should be responsible for receiving, compiling and publishing the de-identified fatigue statistics.
