The Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) should be amended to recognise accreditation schemes like TruckSafe, the ATA said in its response to the draft Productivity Commission report on national transport regulatory reform.

 

The submission also recommends extending the role of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau to include investigating heavy vehicle crashes, and requiring new trucks to be fitted with autonomous emergency braking.
